As we start the new financial year, we have some big and exciting news to share with you. Over the past twelve months, our Board of Directors have been working on a Strategic Plan that will ensure the financial security of the Club, along with providing our members and the local community with a vibrant and inclusive hospitality experience.
During this planning process, we conducted independent focus groups within the local community. The feedback received has been invaluable for our future planning and we thank those participants who have been involved.
Engadine Bowling Club Alfresco Beer Garden
We are proud to announce that work will be starting this week on an Alfresco Beer Garden alongside our Family Lounge, on the south-western side of the building. This project will occupy a portion of the No. 2 Bowling Green. It will be external to the club building at ground level.
Key features will include:
- Seating for approximately 110 people with umbrellas
- Open space for children
- Festoon lighting
- Outdoor speakers for ambient music
- Ramps into the area for accessibility
- Native planting
- Entertainment area for artists to setup
- External toilet facilities
Why a Beer Garden?
During our strategic planning process, several key elements and opportunities arose that the Club wanted to target.
- It was identified that Engadine as a community was lacking options for beer gardens and alfresco dining, along with areas for live entertainment.
- Specifically related to the Club, we were told about the following dislikes:
-
- No beer garden for an outdoor drink; and
-
- Outdoor area that currently exists is for smokers; and
-
- The Club hasn’t re-introduced entertainment since COVID.
- Engadine has a strong under-50 population of almost 11,000 people, and approximately 6,500 of these are members of the Club. We see this as a key demographic who like to socialise with friends and family in the sunshine, and the beautiful westerly aspect that we have on offer.
We see this as a significant opportunity to provide an area to socialise, that will increase and improve our offering as a venue, whilst addressing community needs.
When will I be able to enjoy it?
We want you to be able to enjoy this space as soon as possible, so we have set ourselves a target of opening for Father’s Day weekend! We will announce when bookings will be available in due course.
How will the bowling greens and bowlers be impacted?
During the works, there may be some slight disruption to the use of No. 2 Bowling Green, along with access to the external toilets.
Upon completion, the green will still be able to have six rinks of play when required in the north-south direction only.
Will the area change in the future?
As the area gets used and enjoyed by the community and our members, we will look to evolve the area over time. What could this involve? Covered areas, increased furniture options, kids play…the options are endless!
Please follow us on facebook, Instagram or check your emails for updates on the project, along with opportunities to book for Father’s Day, and our upcoming Entertainment schedule and promotions.
